From a small family business in Exmouth to bringing authentic Spanish paella to celebrations across Devon.

Paella Lovers began its journey in 2013, when we opened The Spanish Shop, a small family-run business specialising in authentic Spanish delicatessen products. We started with just one market stall inside Exmouth Indoor Market, with a passion for bringing the flavours and traditions of Spain to our local community.

A year later, we took our first step into Spanish catering, opening a small four-table bistro within the market. Here, we served traditional Spanish tapas and freshly prepared paella, cooked by Sonia, whose passion for Spanish cuisine was backed by more than 20 years of cooking and catering experience in Barcelona.

As the business grew, so did our ambitions. The limited opening hours of the market led us to relocate to Exeter, where we first operated from a small arcade on Fore Street before moving into our own shop on Fore Street in Heavitree.

During this time, we expanded our range of Spanish delicatessen products, carefully sourcing authentic ingredients and speciality foods from Spain. We also began offering freshly prepared paella and tapas on a cook-to-order basis, allowing our customers to enjoy authentic Spanish food made especially for them.

A New Chapter

In 2018, we decided to take the business in a new direction. We began importing professional paella cooking equipment and sold The Spanish Shop so that we could concentrate on our growing passion for paella and Spanish catering.

In 2021, we returned to Exmouth and took over our current premises, launching our paella catering and delivery service. We started preparing authentic paellas to order and delivering them directly to customers' homes for parties, family celebrations, special occasions and social gatherings.

The response was fantastic, and our paella catering service quickly became a great success.

Today, Paella Lovers is all about sharing our passion for authentic Spanish food and creating memorable experiences around one of Spain's most famous dishes.

Whether it's a family celebration, birthday, wedding, corporate event or simply a gathering of friends, we believe that great food brings people together. Our paellas are prepared with carefully selected ingredients, traditional techniques and, most importantly, the passion that has been at the heart of our business since 2013.
